About Us

String art designer David Jefferson has been creating embroidery patterns for greetings cards for some years. David thought it would be fun to create some larger patterns suitable for hanging on the wall. This design work lead to the patterns on the String Art Fun web site.

Making pictures with nails and string was a popular craze in the 1970s. After some experimentation with various materials David has created some fresh string art designs.

There are similarities and differences between string art pictures and prick and stitch greetings cards. Simply scaling up the card designs would not work because going around a nail is different from going in a pricked hole and coming out of another pricked hole. All of the designs have been newly created.

David has created most of the Form-A-Lines range of stitching cards for Card Inspirations, a card craft supplies shop. Form-A-Lines were launched in 1998. Since then David has designed hundreds of patterns for them as D J Designs.

David launched the totally separate business called Stitching Cards in June 2004 to market a different range of card embroidery designs for direct download to your computer.

The String Art Fun web site was launched in March 2007 and it works in partnership with Stitching Cards.

David has a background in graphic design and was the editor of Animator magazine between 1982 and 1995.
